For a group of people who write for an online publication, we are unusually obsessed with office supplies. Over the years, we’ve compiled gift guides for stationery freaks, by stationery freaks; reported extensively on the various notebooks and planners we, and our equally obsessive contributors, rely on; brought you intel on the pens and pencils Plum Sykes, Sofia Coppola, and Joe Biden can’t live without; and sung the praises of everything from magnetic tape and weatherproof sticky notes to desk lamps, desk décor, and desks in general (of every kind).
So have we finally reached our limit? Not in the slightest. In fact, this week, we’re doubling down on the stationery world in all its many fabulous forms: We’ve fully overhauled our Office 100 and will also debut a roundup of 100 pens, pencils, and markers that we’ve written about. A fountain-pen obsessive has put together a guide for anyone looking to dip their nib into that vast world for the first time. One of my colleagues will explain how having a printer will save you both time and money. And I, known around these parts as the Picky Pen Person, will deliver yet another extremely opinionated roundup, this time about my favorite things to write on.
So crack those knuckles, throw away those dried-out pens and half-filled notebooks, and clear some space in your current work-from-home setup. Welcome to Stationery Week.
