Springtime means patio season in the South (before it gets oppressively hot), and I was looking to outfit my patio with an affordable, all-in-one furniture set to enjoy the short window of near-perfect temperatures.
But limited space and budget weren’t my only concerns—springtime in Alabama means both pollen and tornado season. And while I know that no outdoor furniture is going to be completely immune to the elements, I did want something that would be easy to wipe clean and would hold up against pollen, rain, and high winds.
I landed on this timeless acacia wood set that’s great for small spaces and looks much more expensive than it is—and it’s Southern Living’s favorite tested outdoor furniture set, too.

The set took about an hour and half to assemble, including removing everything from its packaging. It fits nicely on my small, covered patio and pulled my outdoor space together with little need for accessorizing—I just added some throw pillows, an outdoor rug, and outdoor string lights for a more complete and cozy look.
But it wasn’t long after assembly that a thin layer of yellow dust descended upon every inch of my patio. The pollen sat on my furniture for several days, mixing with rain water and creating little yellow pools on some portions of the cushions.
I used a damp microfiber cloth to wipe down the pollen from both the wood and cushions; I was able to remove about 90 percent of the residue, which was impressive given the price point (and the amount of pollen). The cushion covers are also removable for easy cleanup, so you can also toss them in the washing machine.
I did decide to go with a darker teal color to better mask dirt and stains, but I think you’d still be okay with a lighter color so long as you regularly wipe it down and keep it in a covered area. I also love how the cushions come with straps to secure them to the chair in the event of high winds, of which we’ve had plenty, given that it’s also tornado season in the South.
The acacia wood frame feels made to last and has a timeless look with slats on the back and sides. It would be nice if the cushions were a bit thicker, but a throw pillow can add lumbar support in a pinch.
For $350, you get four pieces—a coffee table, couch, and two chairs—making this a great value, especially for a one-and-done set. I’ve already received compliments from multiple folks who say they love the look of the furniture, and now that we’re barreling toward the end of spring, I can’t wait to use it on cool summer nights and into fall.
While I was impressed with the quality of this set in particular, I found more patio furniture with similar styles from across the web. Keep scrolling for patio furniture with slatted wood frames, including bistro sets, rocking chairs, and more.
