When Kari Telgenhof stopped in at Midvintec, Menomonee Falls’ mid-century furniture store, to buy a dining room table, she hit it off with the owner, Christina Kraemer. They then started going to church together.
After church one day, Kraemer told Telgenhof that her dream was to open a coffee shop inside of Midvintec. She just did not know anyone who could do it.
Telgenhof’s reply? “My dream is to have one,” she said.
Now it’s happening. Telgenhof is aiming to open her first coffee shop, Percolatte, in mid-December in Kraemer’s store.
“It couldn’t have worked out better,” Kraemer said. “(Telgenhof) has the passion to open it.”
Telgenhof, who loves the friendly vibe of coffee shops, said she’s looking forward to owning her own shop after being a stay-at-home mom for more than 20 years.
I found a new purpose,” she said. “Chris and I met for a reason.”
Here’s more about the new shop:
A coffee shop, Percolatte, is slated to open inside of Midvintec in downtown Menomonee Falls in December 2025.
Where will Percolatte be located?
Percolatte will be located at N89 W16811 Appleton Ave. inside of Midvintec in downtown Menomonee Falls.
How big will Percolatte be?
Kraemer said Percolatte will be around 1,000 square feet. She said a previous tenant had rented out that space in the back part of the store in 2024. When they moved out, Kraemer started using the space again for her store. Now she said that space will be dedicated to the coffee shop.
The shop will feature chairs, a living-room style set-up with couches along with games and a puzzle.
What kind of drinks will be served at Percolatte?
Telgenhof said Percolatte will begin by serving typical coffee drinks such as lattes, cappuccinos and espressos. It will also serve hot chocolate for children to enjoy. She said she anticipates adding holiday flavors. In the future, she plans on eventually serving wine and nonalcoholic wine.
What is sold in Midvintec?
Midvintec sells vintage items such as couches, dining room tables, chairs, glasses, mirrors and decor items. The store opened in 2022, and Kraemer said she finds these items to sell from estate sales and from people in the community.
What is Telgenhof doing to prepare for the opening?
Before Telgenhof opens the shop, she plans on attending a weeklong training through Seattle Barista Academy in Tukwila, Washington. The training is designed to teach people how to operate the coffee-making equipment and how to open a coffee shop.
