Furniture Warehouse

a historic hotel closes and you can buy more than 10,000 of its furniture for very reduced prices.

Madrid is witnessing these days an unusual opportunity for lovers of decoration, bargains and furniture with surnames: the iconic Hotel ME Madrid Reina Victoria closes its doors and liquidates more than 10,000 pieces of furniture, accessories and luxury pieces from its rooms and common areas, available to the public for prices well below their original value.

Located in the historic Plaza de Santa Ana, the ME Madrid Reina Victoria is known for its white facade designed in 1920 by architect Jesús Carrasco-Muñoz y Encina, inspired by the work of Antonio Palacios. For decades it has been known as the “hotel of the bullfighters” because here they used to dress up in the bullfighter’s costume before going to the bullring of Las Ventas.

Since 2006 it has belonged to the Meliá chain, but after a long negotiation, the Abu Dhabi Sovereign Wealth Fund and Accor, the sixth largest hotel chain in the world, have bought the property.

The hotel will be completely renovated and will be closed for a year. This is the reason why all its furnishings are for sale, from designer rooms and common areas such as the Radio Rooftop bar, to the Ana La Santa restaurant.

Among the most attractive items are Eames-type armchairs for 65 €, headboards -the originals are around 11,000 €- and beds with 135 cm bed base for 100 €, lamps inspired by the Taraxacum model for 40 € and chesterfield-type sofas at reduced prices. You can also buy tables, televisions, sound equipment, iron armchairs (55 €), wicker chairs and tables (20 €), and even special pieces such as a piano (550 €). The furniture will be arranged in recreations of rooms within the hotel itself to show how they might look at home.

The hotel furniture sale starts on Friday, September 5, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and will continue during the weekend (Saturday and Sunday, September 6 and 7), with extended hours from 10:00 am to 8:30 pm. Everything will take place on the street floor of the hotel, at Plaza de Santa Ana, 14.

It is advisable to come with time to choose the best items, as some pieces will probably be sold out before. Small items can be taken directly after purchase, while large furniture can be picked up on September 9 and 10, or request the delivery service provided by ECO-ONE for Madrid and surrounding areas.
